I was born and brought up in London. Eldest of two siblings for my parents of Sri Lankan Tamil heritage and grew up in a typical family.

I began my schooling in state school but won a full scholarship to a public school for my secondary education where I achieved 9 A* IGCSEs and 4 A* at A Levels in Physics, Further Maths, Maths, and Chemistry. 

During my school years, I achieved Grade 8 in Piano and Saxophone (with Distinction), both Classical and Jazz. I also enjoy cooking, where I won school competitions.

I was Head of House and actively participated in extra curricular activities, including in national competitions in Maths and Physics where I won top prizes.

I began my undergraduate studies at Imperial College London in 2018 where I gained a First Class Honours BSc in Physics with Theoretical Physics, including being on the Dean’s List and in the top 10% of my cohort. Following my passion for Theoretical Physics I completed the MSc in Quantum Fields and Fundamental Forces with a Distinction, ranking roughly third in my cohort (there are no official rankings). Most recently I am doing a PhD in the Theoretical Physics group at Imperial which I expect to complete in 2026.

My academic life aside, I have been lucky to have travelled on family holidays overseas every year driven by the passion for travel of my parents. This has not only made me appreciate nature, but also understand cultures and people better. During my travels I particularly enjoy seeing sites of natural beauty, trying local cuisine, visiting museums and places of historical significance.

I have travelled to over thirty-five countries, some more than once to-date. I still have zeal for travel and hope to visit a new country every year. I’m always open to new experiences, cultures and ways of thinking. I believe my experiences have made me a “people person” able to understand and appreciate different perspectives and keen to continue to learn more.

In addition, I keep my creative passion for cooking and music alive by being on the hunt for new recipes and finding new genres of music to listen to and play.
